Almost certainly you have the China hardware variant (model M1804E4C). The ADSP firmware in modern custom ROMs is signed for the Global variant SoC. On China hardware, the audio subsystem fails to boot — total silence on speaker, earpiece, Bluetooth, and the 3.5mm jack. The fix involves swapping ADSP firmware blocks in the modem partition. We documented the only working solution worldwide; remote fix takes 20–30 minutes for $25.
eBay remains the most reliable source, with both Global and China variants typically available. AliExpress occasionally has refurbished units. In Southeast Asia (especially Indonesia and the Philippines), local marketplaces regularly list secondhand units. Always verify the model number — M1804E4A is Global, M1804E4C is China.
There are two hardware variants of the Mi Max 3, and they matter more than you might think. The Global model (sold in Europe, India, Middle East) and the China model use different ADSP firmware signatures. When you flash a modern custom ROM, the Global model usually works fine — but the China variant loses all audio. Speaker, earpiece, Bluetooth, headphone jack: silence.
